Towels are hygiene products that directly touch the skin every day, but incorrect washing and care can lead to fuzzing, stiffening of the fibers, and bacterial growth, causing unpleasant odors. The key is to wash towels separately from other clothing, minimize the use of fabric softener as it reduces absorbency, and use a dryer or sun drying to prevent bacterial growth and maintain softness.

💡 3 Steps for Washing and Caring for Fluffy Towels

1. 🧼 Towel Separate Washing (Hygiene and Fuzz Prevention):

• Separate Washing is Essential: Towels generate a lot of fuzz when rubbed against other clothing (especially synthetic fibers), and contamination can transfer to other clothes. Always gather and wash towels only, separately.
• Minimize Detergent Residue: Detergent residue can make towels stiff and cause bacterial growth. Use only the appropriate amount of detergent and rinse thoroughly to remove residue.
• Tip: Avoid Fabric Softener (Reduces Absorbency): Fabric softener coats the towel fibers, significantly reducing absorbency. If you want softness, use vinegar (citric acid water) during the final rinse.

2. 🌡️ Germ Eradication and Sanitization:

• Boiling or Sodium Percarbonate: Periodically boil white towels to sanitize them. Since colored towels cannot be boiled, use sodium percarbonate bleaching by soaking them in warm water with sodium percarbonate dissolved in it for about 30 minutes before washing.
• Use Cold/Lukewarm Water: For regular washing, use cold or lukewarm water to prevent damage and shrinkage of the towel fibers.

3. ☀️ Dryer/Sun Drying (Maintain Softness):

• Dryer Use Recommended: Using a dryer for towels is the best method as it fluffs up the fibers and provides a sanitizing effect.
• Sun Drying: If you do not have a dryer, dry them outdoors in a sunny spot to kill germs and remove odors. When drying indoors, use a dehumidifier/fan to dry quickly, as odors are likely to occur.
